Welcome to Wind Ridge Wood Crafts
Thanks for visiting us at Wind Ridge Wood Crafts, run by Mike Schienle (Shen-lee) and my wife, Rev. Dr. Rhonda Schienle. My woodworking journey began at my grandfather's workshop, where he had retired as an auto mechanic shop owner to more relaxing pursuits of woodcraft, such as bowls, candle holders, and unique toys that played in the wind. My wallet and keys spend each day in a beautiful bowl he made 50+ years ago.
My father also enjoyed woodworking, but it was DIY projects on a different scale. I remember watching him and a couple of his friends build a traditional barn on a couple acres to house our steers, goats, sheep and chickens when I was about 8. As I got older, I helped him build decks, garage lofts and pergolas.
My journey is intertwined with another beautiful story - that of my wife, Rev. Dr. Rhonda. Together, we've found a way to marry my woodworking with her ministry. The wedding boxes and ring-bearer boxes we create together aren't just containers; they're blessings, each piece touched by our shared faith and love. We also make a variety of kitchen and homestead items, from cutting boards and charcuterie boards to boxes and lanterns. We both have a passion for homesteading as we enjoy our quiet home on 1.5 acres where we enjoy occasional deer (our property hosts a deer crossing sign), turkeys and plenty of smaller critters and birds.
Please check out our YouTube videos where we turned Oak and Walnut into a stunning Wedding Box with traditional tools and some intricate CNC assistance. You can also watch me mill a small Hickory log with a Grizzly Bandsaw and Carter Log Mill - it's our nod to the homesteading spirit of making as many of our own products as we can.

Here at Wind Ridge Wood Crafts, we're about more than just making things; we're about making a life. We embrace the homesteading philosophy, using local woods, crafting with intention, and ensuring that each piece we make is a piece of home.
We'd love for you to be part of this journey. By following our YouTube Channel, you'll see our new projects, stories from our workshop, and perhaps some homesteading inspiration.
